South End Social is primarily a lunch venue and wine bar. They have Friday evenings with both Bar Snacks and Dinner service from 6 – 9pm with bookings. Their Wine Bar has an interesting list of Beers and cocktails which are available during every day and a Wine list to satisfy the most discerning palate. We came to lunch, with no idea of how delightful all of our meals would be. The variety provided is clearly defined with GF, DF, and Vegan so you are able to order without having to ask.
Klara ordered Prawn & Squid Fritto Misto with chilli, Herbs and fennel salad. So tender and tasty. Emma had the Brisket Cheeseburger, this is no ordinary burger, the large brisket was tender, melt in the mouth with pickles, onions, American cheddar melted over the burger with sauce, served with fries. Ian had the Steak sandwich with mushrooms, Swiss cheese, red onion and Jalapeano BBQ sauce. Flavoursome and delicious. I ordered the lunch special for the day. Slow cooked Beef in a pita wrap served with braised peppers and avocado. It was absolutely delicious from 1st to last mouthful. What a treat! Neighbours at the next table had a Grilled lemon chicken Souvlaki Pita and the Miso Baked Eggplant, which were also thoroughly enjoyed.
The restaurant is smart, bright and attractive with inside and outside seating, the staff are so friendly, and the team led by Paul O’Donnell deserve their success. With a steady lineup for takeaway as well as guests at all the tables is testament to beautifully crafted food and service South End Social provides.
