Funhaus Factory Brings Cinema Back to Gosford with Cult Classic Screenings

Gosford’s movie nights are back! Funhaus Factory is reviving the local cinema experience with regular screenings of cult classics — the perfect way for the community to come together, share a laugh, and escape the couch.

This Friday, Gosford Cinema presents John Waters’ outrageous teen musical comedy Cry-Baby (1990), starring a young Johnny Depp in his iconic turn as tear-streaked rebel Wade “Cry-Baby” Walker. With its campy musical numbers, razor-sharp satire and anarchic rockabilly spirit, Cry-Baby flips the wholesome teen musical on its head and serves up an unforgettable night of cinematic rebellion.

“Last time we screened The Birds, it was such a blast — people were laughing, chatting, and screaming together like we were all in a loungeroom at a mate’s house,” says Funhaus Factory Creative Director, Glitta Supernova. “That’s what makes Gosford Cinema so special — it’s informal, fun, and social. You can grab a cocktail mid-film, order a burger, and just enjoy cinema the way it should be: together.”

The Gosford Cinema experience combines the best of big-screen magic with the welcoming energy of a local hangout. Sip cocktails, tuck into Beau’s Burgers, and soak up the Milk Bar vibes as you watch one of John Waters’ most iconic cult classics. The atmosphere is part old-school drive-in, part intimate art-house cinema club — perfect for movie buffs, film nerds, date nights, groups of mates, or anyone who loves a camp night out.

The screening takes place at the Funhaus Factory at the Gosford Arts Centre. Doors open at 5:00pm with the film starting at 7:00pm sharp (lock-out applies). Cry-Baby (Director’s Cut) runs for 91 minutes, is rated PG-13, and features a stellar ensemble cast including Amy Locane, Iggy Pop, Ricki Lake, Traci Lords, Susan Tyrrell, and more alongside Johnny Depp.
