Marney is your Wyong Woman!

The Member for Wyong David Harris recognises singer, actress and comedian Marney McQueen as the 2025 Wyong Woman of the Year.
The Wyong Woman of the Year award was presented to Mrs McQueen at the NSW Regional Woman of the Year Award 2025 in the International Convention Centre Sydney to celebrate woman across NSW.
Mrs McQueen has been a beacon of hope and inspiration in Wyong, dedicating her time and efforts to various local initiatives. Her work in promoting community organisations and engagement has made a significant impact on the lives of many locals.
Frank Arangio, partner of the talented Mrs McQueen said, “Seven years ago, Marney and I made the life-changing decision to move to the Central Coast and purchase the Royal Hotel Pub in Wyong.
Driven by a shared dream and a vision for a brighter future, a simple aspiration has blossomed into a journey filled with countless positive experiences and opportunities.”
Mrs McQueen established a brand-new form of entertainment for the locals with the creation of Saturday Night Spectacular Cabaret nights. These nights have been a huge success, not just for the hotel, but for the whole community, who now can see star performers such as Rhonda Burchmore, Marina Prior and Bob Downe.
Her driving force for community giving, with their fundraising efforts contributing over $250,000 to local charities and organisations, including Friends of Wyong River Rubbish Clean Up, Wires Group in Jilliby and Dooralong areas, and We Care Connect.
Beyond her financial contributions, Mrs McQueen has also dedicated her time to hosting various local events, such as the Wyong Christmas Carols, Wyong Business Awards, and Royal wedding celebration at Love Lanes Festival, showcasing her commitment to promoting community spirit and connection.
She is also involved with children’s activities such as P+C at Jilliby Public School and has volunteered with school working bees, and she sang and ran the fundraising raffle at the school during the Harvest Festival.
Mrs McQueen said, “As we reflect on the past seven years, we are filled with gratitude for the experiences we’ve shared and the relationships we’ve built. Wyong has become more than just a place to live; it has become our home, a community where dreams can flourish, and where we can continue to make a difference together. Here’s to many more years of growth, connection, and positive change in Wyong!”
David Harris commended Marney for her tirelesss advocacy and leadership, stating, “Marney embodies the spirit of our community. Her passion for helping others and her ability to bring people together is truly remarkable. She is a role model for us all.”
