New Theatre for Tuggerah
Elderslee@Tuggerah and Red Tree Theatre
An exciting new venture is set to open on Tuggerah Straight in April!
The Elderslee Foundation, a Central Coast charity purchased the former Bubs Warehouse (next door to Beaumont Tiles and Derry’s Carpets) in 2018 and have transformed the space into a community centre and performance space.
With the assistance of Morson Architects and building works by local Stevens Group, Elderslee@ Tuggerah now contains a large conference/training rooms, meeting and breakout spaces, and hot-desking facilities. The centre also includes a large foyer, suitable for exhibitions, and a 144-seat performance space, Red Tree Theatre. This space is flexible, with retractable seating and state of the art sound and lighting facilities.
As well as providing a venue for theatrical performances, Red Tree Theatre is an ideal space for seminars and presentations.
Largely staffed by volunteers, Elderslee@Tuggerah and Red Tree Theatre is a rare achievement, a community centre and performance space that has been wholly funded by a charity (ie no government funding), primarily for the use of community groups and the not for profit sector.
Elderslee Foundation will take possession of the centre in March, and will spend that month furnishing the centre, and getting it reading for a soft opening in April. A web-site for the centre will go live in March.
Already Elderslee@Tuggerah and Red Tree Theatre have several bookings, including Wyong Drama Group’s Anzac Tribute, to be held on April 17, 18, 19, and The Full Monty, from May 1-9.
