Valentines Day Lunch in Wyong

On Valentines Day we had lunch at the Wyong Golf Club, as we wanted to sample the delicacies from their new menu, which was proudly presented by executive chef, Chris Matthews.

A nice choice in entrees made it difficult to choose, but we settled for Garlic Chili Prawn Hotpot with garlic bread dipping toasts, and Half Shell Grilled Scallops in garlic butter with mango salsa on the side. The seafood was fresh and perfectly cooked, and absolutely delicious. For our main, we had pre-booked the Valentines Day special, which was a seafood platter for two. We were surprised and delighted when our platter arrived, as it illustrated the club’s fresh approach to presentation. We were treated to Kilpatrick oysters, scallops in garlic and parsley, a choice of crispy skin barramundi or salmon, battered flathead pieces, salt and pepper squid, creamy garlic prawns, slaw and hot chips.

We happily ate our meal, chatting in the quiet surroundings, and watching the players on the greens. Sadly, we were too full to think about a dessert, but relaxed and enjoyed delicious barista coffee to end our meal.

The events manager, Kelly Wellsmore, explained to us that the club, (as did most businesses) really struggled through the Covid crisis. However, they have worked hard and bounced back with new events scheduled, such as Friday night live music, trivia nights, Bingo, Sunday raffles, and Happy Hour to name a few. They now also cater for special functions, corporate training days, and celebrations such as birthdays and weddings. This is a truly delightful venue for such occasions.

We look forward to returning to this welcoming club at Pacific Highway, Wyong NSW (02) 4352 1361
