Los Muchachos Restaurant Ettalong Beach

Serving up delicious Mexican & South American cuisine to the Central Coast.

Los Muchachos restaurant in Ettalong is beautifully decorated with colourful flags and fabulous paintings on the walls.

The food and beverages offered are typical of Mexico and South America. I tried a Dark Cherry Pisco Sour Cocktail (with Pisco, Chambord, simple syrup, citrus and egg white) while Klara had the Frozen Pina Colada (with white rum, coconut water, coconut syrup and pineapple juice) Emma had a Mojito Mocktail that was refreshing, – full of fresh mint and lime juice. There are many varieties of selected beverages both alcoholic and non-alcoholic imported from Mexico and South America on offer. Take advantage of their Happy Hour on Weekdays between 5 and 6pm.

For starters we tried the Elotes – Grilled Mexican corn on the cob topped with lime chilli salt, cheese and chipotle aioli. Quesadillas – toasted flour tortilla filled with grilled chicken and cheese (although there are other options of slow cooked beef, pulled pork or sauteed vegetables and guacamole), they were very ‘moreish’, and some of the best we have ever tasted, but we had to save room for the Tacos!

On Taco Tuesdays you can try any Taco for $5 each. We tried a variety of Tacos both hard and soft shelled. The Fish Taco was soft shelled and filled with mango and lime salsa, baked fish fillets, red cabbage and smoked chipotle aioli. The Birra Tacos were hard corn tortillas filled with slow cooked beef and consommé. The choice of other fillings ranged from grilled chicken, pulled pork or sauteed vegetables and came served with cheese, salsa Verde, Pico de Gallo, (Soth American salsa) and Ranchera (tomato, onion and coriander). Authentic and delicious!

We could not leave until we had the Churros dusted with cinnamon and sugar and served with a choice of caramel or Nutella! This Mexican hideaway is worth discovering and worth travelling for! Buena comida!
